Gretchen & Kyle engagements – Milwaukee, Wisconsin wedding photographer

I met with Gretchen and Kyle for their engagements in Milwaukee a couple weeks ago. They brought along their sweet Beagle, Sunday, for a couple shots. I have to say that Sunday is the tiniest Beagle I’ve ever seen! I wanted to take her home with me! After this session it made me realize how much I love shooting in the city and not just in natural settings. The light and color was amazing for their shoot. I loved getting to know Gretchen and Kyle and witnessing their adorable-ness. These two are so perfect for each other and I cannot wait to photograph their wedding next year in May.

Jenna & Dennis engagements – Milwaukee, Wisconsin wedding photographer

I’m a little behind on my blogging all the great weddings and engagement sessions we’ve been shooting recently. I have a few minutes today to post Dennis and Jenna’s engagement photos that we shot in Milwaukee last month. I just love the light, the color and of course the laughter in these pictures. Dennis and Jenna were so dang cute together. I just love how their pictures turned out! We’ll be shooting their wedding in less than 2 weeks from now! Super excited for that one :)

Kelly & Ben – Iowa City Wedding Photographer

We traveled to Iowa City for Kelly and Ben’s wedding. The drive out there is so gorgeous! Rolling hills, beautiful sunny skies. The sunny part changed on the day of their wedding though. As soon as Kelly was done getting ready, it started to pour cats and dogs. I’ve never seen weather like that on a day I shot a wedding. There literally were little rivers in the streets and sidewalks! Kelly and Ben handled the rain so well and just went with it! Our plans to do a first look at a park had to be changed to doing the first look at their beautiful church. I remember at one point when Kelly was walking up to Ben, you could hear the thunder rolling loud outside. So cool! At one point during portraits in the church the lights flickered off for just a second(!!!) and we prayed that the lights would stay on during the ceremony(and they did!). From what I’ve gathered, Iowa has been experiencing the worst drought since the 1930′s and the skies finally decided to rain on Kelly and Ben’s wedding day. Only for a little while though! The skies opened up a bit during their ceremony and we were able to get portraits done outside.

I love the park Kelly chose for their pictures. Sort of reminded me of the nature feel in their engagement photos taken last November. I cannot get enough of how fabulous Kelly looked in her Vera Wang gown! Ben was looking mighty dapper in his tux with red socks and matching watch. These two were so fun to photograph. Even when things were looking bleak with the weather they just rolled with it with smiles on their faces :)

Their reception held at Celebration Farm was a stunner. When you walk into the farm you are greeted with the smell of cedar. The room was decorated perfectly with twinkling lights, white paper lanterns, purple and blue hydrangeas on every table. So pretty!

I had the pleasure of working with I Do Films again. Such a fun group of people to work beside!

Congrats Kelly and Ben!

LOL, this was funny. You had to be there! :)

Kelly and Jeff Wedding – Oshkosh Wisconsin wedding photographer

Kelly and Jeff’s wedding ranks pretty dang high on the list of my favorite weddings of ALL TIME. For reals. Everything about this wedding was so happy, beautiful, and utterly perfect. Kelly and Jeff chose a more relaxed, intimate celebration in their backyard with a tent. Some of my favorite weddings are backyard weddings! Their ceremony was so sweet and touching. Lots of happy tears. You could just feel the happy and positive energy coming from everyone that was present to witness their union. So many meaningful details they included and a fun bridal party to boot. This wedding was stress free and I’m so honored that I was chosen to photograph it. Thank you Kelly and Jeff. Thank you, THANK YOU!

Emma

I’m busting with excitement over sharing this session with you today! I do specialize in weddings, but I also LOVE shooting families and children. I never thought I’d add senior pictures to that list until a few months ago when my hair stylist, Jenny asked me if I was interested in shooting her daughters portraits. I’ve known Jenny since I was a kid and have watched her daughters grow up from the pictures in her salon so I was thrilled when she told me that her eldest daughter, Emma was a fan of my work. I, of course agreed and felt so honored! When I met with Emma a few months ago she told me that she didn’t want her pictures to look like anyone else’s. I love that!

I’ll admit I was a tad nervous mainly because I wasn’t sure how to approach a session like this. Not that long ago I was seventeen myself(OK, Anna, 11 years ago isn’t exactly “not that long ago”, lol) and I can remember how I wanted to be photographed for my senior portraits. I basically went with that approach along with trying to capture Emma in the most honest way.

You can’t tell from the photos, but it was HOT that evening. I believe it was somewhere around 95 degrees or slightly higher. Despite the heat we had fun and I completely forgot about the temperature. The light was perfect and there were no bugs! Huzzah! As you can tell, Emma is a beautiful, STUNNING young lady. Her calm and relaxed spirit made my job super easy and so enjoyable. Thank you so much Emma!
